Specterra Consultants Ltd. ("Specterra", "we", "our") is a geotechnical engineering firm based in Metro Vancouver, BC. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website at specterra.ca.
We are subject to the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, BC) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. What We Collect
We collect information in two ways:
Contact and quote request form. When you submit a project inquiry, we collect your name, company name, email address, phone number, project type, location, and any project details you include. This information is submitted through Netlify's form processing service and forwarded to us by email.
Website analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, time on site, device type, and general location (city/region level). This data is collected via cookies and associated with a randomly assigned identifier — not your name or email.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information from the contact form is used solely to respond to your project inquiry and to follow up as needed. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties.
Analytics data is used to understand which pages are useful, where visitors come from, and how to improve the site. It is never combined with your contact form submission.
4. Third-Party Services
Netlify — our website host and form processor. Form submissions are processed on Netlify's servers before being forwarded to us. Netlify's privacy policy is available at netlify.com/privacy.
Google Analytics — website analytics provided by Google LLC. Data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. How Long We Keep Your Information
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and maintain a reasonable record of communications. If a project engagement follows, information may be retained as part of our project records. We do not retain information longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request corrections, or to request that it be deleted. To make a request, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Security
Our website is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are encrypted in transit. We take reasonable precautions to protect personal information from loss, theft, and unauthorised access, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
